Heritage Open Days September 2019

Again this year Wisbech Society, published a map of Wisbech showing over 20 venues which were opening during the Heritage Open Days period from 13th September to 22nd September as part of the national scheme. 1500 copies of the map were printed and distributed to members, the venues and other places such as the Information Centre and the Library. The cost of the maps was supported by Wisbech Town Council, The Rose and Crown Hotel, Bygones Restaurant and Hughes Electrical.
The Society contributed to the scheme with 2 events.
On Saturday 14th September afternoon, Wisbech Projects, who co-produced the map with the Society, held a "Crafternoon" in the General Cemetery Chapel when people of all ages made Dare to Dream hearts.
On Sunday 15th September the Chapel was open all day to the public with most interesting displays by Fenland Family History Society and the Friends own records available making the records and history of the Cemetery available to about 50 visitors. At 11am, the Friends of Wisbech General Cemetey conducted a guided walk around the cemetery pointed out some of the very many points of interest of this special part of Wisbech's heritage.
