On Saturday 30th March 2019, Carrie Anne Funnell gave a most interesting illustrated talk about the design and manufacture of the spectacular fusion glass art windows in the newly restored Chapel at Wisbech General Cemetery. Standing in front of the windows Carrie provided a fascinating insight into her love of fusion glass art acquired at Thomas School and the then Isle College. She now exhibits at Chelsea Flower show and undertakes nationally, commissions for her glass work. She demonstrated how she works with glass to produce the stunning artwork in her Wisbech studio.
As can be seen from the photograph, Carrie designed the windows in sympathy with the ethos of the cemetery and emphasised the importance of the natural setting of the cemetery through her art.
